XIVth INTERNATIONAL CHESS FESTIVAL

a stage of the Russian Cup Chigorin Memorial

20th October (arrival day) to 29th October 2006

The International Festival comprises 4 tournaments.

A. Blitz tournament in memory of the outstanding blitz master Chepukaitis will be held on 21st October, Swiss system, 11 rounds, start at 14:00. Registration deadline is 21st October 12:00. Players registrate at Chigorin Chess Club (ul. Bolshaya Koniushennaja, 25).
Tournament takes place at Entertainment Center "Vegas" (Manezhnaya pl., 6). Start fee is 300 rubles

Prize fund 50 000 rubles (on 24/07 1€=34.03 rubles)

B. Rapid tournament is held 22th October at Chigorin Chess Club (ul. Bolshaya Koniushennaja, 25). Start at 16:00, Swiss system, time control is 15 minutes for the whole game with the addition of 5 seconds per move Registration deadline is 22st October 15:30. Start fee is 400 rubles

Prize fund 50 000 rubles

C. Main tournament, a stage of the Russian Cup, will be held 23rd to 29th October, tournament is held at hotel "Kareliya" (ul. Marshala Tukhachevskogo, 27-2). Swiss system, 9 rounds, time control 1 hour 30 minutes for the whole game with the addition of 30 seconds per move. Chess players with ELO >2300 can participate.

Prize fund 270 000 rubles

Tournament schedule is:

    1 round - 23th October, start at 17.00
    2 round - 24th October, start at 17.00
    3 round - 25th October, start at 11.00
    4 round - 25th October, start at 17.00
    5 round - 26th October, start at 17.00
    6 round - 27th October, start at 17.00
    7 round - 28th October, start at 11.00
    8 round - 28th October, start at 17.00
    9 round - 29th October, start at 14.00

Conditions for International Grandmasters:

  • ELO - 2600 +     board and lodging,
  • ELO - 2500 — 2599     lodging (on agreement with organizers)

    • Players that have no GM title pay fees:

  • ELO - 2500 +     no start fee is paid,
  • ELO - 2401 — 2499     1 000 rubles,
  • ELO - 2301 — 2400     1 500 rubles.

    • D. ELO<2300 tournament will be held 23rd to 29th October at Chess Club (ul. Bolshaya Koniushennaja, 25). Swiss system, 9 rounds.

      1 round - 23th October, start at 17.30
      2 round - 24th October, start at 17.30
      3 round - 25th October, start at 11.00
      4 round - 25th October, start at 17.30
      5 round - 26th October, start at 17.30
      6 round - 27th October, start at 17.30
      7 round - 28th October, start at 11.00
      8 round - 28th October, start at 17.30
      9 round - 29th October, start at 14.00

    Prize fund 100 000 rubles

    Chess players pay start fees:

  • ELO 2100 — 2300     1 500 rubles,
  • ELO 1900 — 2099     2 000 rubles,
  • ELO under 1900     2 500 rubles,
  • Players without ELO pay     2 700 руб.

    • A 15% discount is provided for women, seniors (older than 60) and juniors (younger than 16), except players without ELO.

    Participants who need lodging should apply before 13th October.
    Cultural program available on agreement with organizers (including days before/after the tournament)
